Please be advised from Tuesday, June 2nd 2020 the credit union will revert to its original hours of business 8 am to 4.30 pm, Monday to Friday.

Joanne Loobie, the Chairperson of Huggins Credit Union Property Committee is looking forward to the guesthouse opening around the end of June. She said the contractor Good Hope, completed the project and intended to hand over the guesthouse by 12th February 2020.

As an essential service to Trinidad & Tobago, Huggins Credit Union would like to update our members with various options to conduct transactions with us.
Payments: You are encouraged to make payments via online banking. If that is not an option for you, you may deposit directly, via any branch of Republic Bank, to our account #150 188 540 301. When using either of the above, you must either email us at info@hugginscu.com, call us at 622-4810 or WhatsApp us at 299-9506 with the details of the deposit.
Loan Installments Deferral Notice to Members

As we continue to grapple with the effects of Covid 19 and its financial impact on our membership, we are extending to our members the opportunity to request a deferral of their loan installments on a case by case basis, for an initial period of up to 3 months, beginning March 2020.
Please note that a deferral IS NOT A WAIVER of the payment, rather the term of the loan will be extended by the deferral period, to allow for the repayment of the installments at a later date. We do, however, urge members who

Once again Huggins Credit Union invites all members to our Annual Children's Christmas Party!
There will be face painting, games and more, including a visit from Santa, who will be distributing gifts!
Kindly register below by sending us the child's name, age and if boy or girl by December 6th, 2019 You are free to bring children who are not members of Huggins CU too!
Also this year, we will be asking for a small contribution of $50.00 per child again. One adult per family is allowed free. Each additional adult will be asked to contribute $25.00.
We look forward to seeing you and your little (or not so little) ones have some fun on Sunday, December 14th, 2019 at Eastern Regional Indoor Sport Complex, Tacarigua.
Sharifa Constantine elected to Huggins Board of Directors

Sharifa Constantine was elected at Huggins Credit Union 2018 AGM to serve a three-year term as a director on their Board. Of the four outgoing board members, Christopher Alexander 57 votes, Narda Coker 48 votes and Sarah Durrant 47 votes will serve another three-year term.
The first and second alternates to the board, Tribowan Singh and Glen Narine, got 32 and 26 votes respectively.
The 2018 AGM was held on Saturday, May 4th, 2019 at Kampo Vibes Restaurant, 53 Ramsaran Street, Chaguanas.
Pradeep Raman and Joanne Gamaldo elected to Huggins Credit Union 2019/20 Supervisory Committee

Pradeep Raman and Joanne Gamaldo will join Rachel Briggs to form the 2019/20 Supervisory Committee of Huggins Credit Union. Members at the credit union's 2018 AGM held at Kampo Vibes Restaurant, Chaguanas on Saturday, May 4th, 2019 elected the three-member committee Joanne Gamaldo 58 votes, Rachel Briggs 47 votes and Pradeep Raman 38 votes, from a field of five nominees.
Galene Gabriel 31 votes and Maurisa Benjamin with 25 votes, will serve as the 1st and 2nd alternates.
Melissa Marcano and Nicole Abdool served three consecutive terms and therefore was not eligible for re-election.
Credit Committee Members re-elected at 2018 AGM to serve for 2019/20 term

Once again, the members attending Huggins Credit Union 2018 AGM, re-elected the five outgoing members of the 2018/19 credit committee to serve another year for the 2019/20 term.
From a field of 7 nominees, the committee will comprise of Narda Coker 56 votes, Sarah Durrant and Joanne Loobie 55 votes each, Christopher Alexander and Wilma Abbott-Romany 55 votes each.
The first and second alternates Rosevelte Jones and Kelly-Ann De Castro got 25 and 23 votes respectively.
The 2018 AGM was held on Saturday, May 4th, 2019 at Kampo Vibes Restaurant, 53 Ramsaran Street, Chaguanas.

Rachel Briggs elected to 2018/19 Supervisory Committee

Rachel Briggs will join Melissa Marcano and Nicole Abdool to form the 2018/19 Supervisory Committee of Huggins Credit Union. Members at the credit union's 2017 AGM, re-elected Melissa Marcano and Nicole Abdool, with 60 and 58 votes respectively, to serve another year. Rachel Briggs got 44 votes to take the third available position on the committee for the 2018/19 term. Maurisa Benjamin with 30 votes, will serve as the 1st alternate.
2017/18 Credit Committee Members elected to serve another term

Once again, like the Board of Directors, the members attending Huggins Credit Union 2017 AGM, re-elected the five outgoing members of the 2017/18 credit committee to serve another year for the 2018/19 term.
From a field of 8 nominees, Christopher Alexander and Sarah Durrant got 57 votes each, while Narda Coker and Joanne Loobie both got 54 votes, and Wilma Abbott-Romany received 48 from the members. The first alternate Derek Murray, got 46 votes.
The 2017 AGM was held on Saturday, May 5th, 2018 at Agricola Credit Union, 20 Phillip Street, Port of Spain.

All four outgoing members of the board were elected once again to serve for the next three years by members of Huggins Credit Union at their 2016 AGM, held at Massy Training Centre, Edward Street, Port of Spain on May 4th, 2017.
Robin Samlalsingh, Dale Francois, Phylis Parsanlal-Smith and Wilma Abbott-Romany received 66, 65, 63 and 46 votes respectively from the members. The first alternate to the board, Beverly Alleyne, got 25 votes.

ACH Payments...Another way to pay!!

Huggins Credit Union is now offering members the opportunity to pay their loans and service their accounts through the ACH payment option. ACH payments are electronic payments made through the Automated Clearing House (ACH) Network. It is a popular alternative to a banking standing order, paper checks and credit card payments. The benefits to Huggins Credit Union and its members is the fact that everybody involved gets to save time and money.

Its Christmas time again!

It was a day filled with lots fun for the children and family of Huggins Credit Union, at their annual children's Christmas party. This year the fun was held at WASA Sports Club, and the credit union's decision to adopt a children's home was fulfilled as the children from Christ Child Home in Diego Martin , were transported to and from the venue.
This year's party also had entertainment for the adults with a live parang band.

Huggins to launch website soon

Work on Huggins Credit Union website will begin in September 2016. The online launch of the website is set for late November, early December 2016.
According to Anthony Durrant, Director, members will be allowed to download and upload their loan and application forms to the credit union's office for quick and hassle-free service. The website will allow the Credit Union and members to better engage the credit union in real-time and allow members to access information and communicate with the Credit Union team.
All promotions will be launched on the website and supported through the credit union's Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp social media accounts.
The official launch of the website is scheduled for early 2017.
Anti-Money Laundering Training set for September
August 29, 2016
The Board and committee members of Huggins Credit Union will be engaged in an Anti Money Laundering training session on September 8th, 2016. The session be be held by the Credit Union League at their Chaguanas office from 5pm to 7pm.
Training is also scheduled for the supervisory committee on Saturday September 10th at the same venue from 9am - 11am.
Huggins CU Board and Committees to be part of strategic retreat

Jerome Chambers will host the Board and committee members of Huggins Credit Union at their August 19th- 21st 2016 strategic retreat. Mr Chambers will meet with the staff on Friday 19th August before meeting with the Board and committees on on the 20th and 21st at Crews Inn.
Mr. Jerome Chambers is well known in the credit union industry and is the Director of Global Forensic Institute.
Melanie Purcell returns as manager
August 08, 2016
Former employee Melanie Purcell was recently appointed manager of Huggins Credit Union in July. The position became vacant with the resignation of the former manager Vashtie Rajcoomar in July after fourteen years of service to the Credit Union.
Ms. Purcell was selected from a final group of three based on the advice of an independent agency. According to the President, Melanie brings with her a wealth of experience having worked in the Credit Union Industry and other financial sectors for a number of years. She as also completed her studies in Credit Union Management at the Cipriani College of Labour and Co-operative Studies.
The board welcomes Melanie to the organisation and express their indent to work with her to improve the services of the Credit Union. She is scheduled to start work on Thursday July 28th.
